The Inter Secondary Secondary School Football Competition organised by Kayode Adamolekun Foundation (KAF) has kicked off.
The Football Competition organised among secondary schools in Gbonyin local government area of Ekiti State kicked off at the Aisegba Community Grammar School, Aisegba Ekiti in Ekiti State on Saturday (May 6, 2023).
The football competition which is tagged “playing for a drug free society courtesy Kayode Adamolekun Foundation” is aimed at creating awareness against drug abuse and illicit drugs in the society.
In the kick off game between Aisegba comprehensive high school Aisegba Ekiti and Ilumoba Gramar school ended 3-0 in favour of Ilumoba team.
It was a display of football prowess as both teams tried to out class each other, but the luck came in favour of Ilumoba Gramar school at the end of the regulation time.
Also in the second game, Aisegba High school defeated Ijanmodu comprehensive high school by 3 goals to nill.
On Saturday, Ojugbaye comprehensive high school Imesi Ekiti will lock horns with Methodist High school Egbe while Ileowuro comprehensive high school Agbado Ekiti will slug it out against Ode High school Ode Ekiti.
The founder of the Foundation, Engr Kayode Adamolekun who was represented by the chairman inter school competition, Adebayo Adeyemi and an official of the foundation Ojo Oluwasegun noted that the competition was aimed at creating an avenue to take the war against drug to all and sundry, saying that football universally has been one of the best ways to send message to mass audience.
Adamolekun noted that the sensitization football tournament became necessary due to the issue of Substance Abuse among teenagers and young adults, stressing that the game will create avenue to discuss with youths on danger inherent in drug abuse as well as create an enabling environment for rehabilitation
