…promises sustained workers’ welfare
In recognition of his commitemnt to decent work agenga and provision of labour friendly atmosphere in the state, the management of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) has conferred an outstanding award of Honourary Fellowship of the National Labour Institute (FNLS) on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of kwara State.
Receiving the award, the Governor appreciated the MINILS for the award and pledged that the recognition would spur him to do more for the organised labour in the state.
The Governor promised that his government would continue to prioritise welfare of the workers.
He pledged further that his government would not sack any worker but rather come up with more workers friendly programmes that will better their lots.
Presenting the award to the Governor at a well attended gathering in the Government House Banquet Hall, Ilorin, on Thursday (March 16, 2023), the Director General Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu mni said the award was a step in a right direction.
Comrade Aremu described Mallam Abdulrazaq as a pro-labour Governor who has done so much, and is still doing, to make life more bearable for the workers in the state, saying that his labour friendly programmes and projects cannot be forgotten in a hurry.
He said the Governor had visited MINILS twice on different occasions, showing that he is determined to make life more conducive for workers in the state.
Comrade Aremu particularly commended the Governor on his labour related policies such as promotion of workers, prompt payment of salaries, training and retraining exercise, improved working environment, freedom of association, restoration of seniority in civil service, minimum wage and consequential adjustment, mass decent employment and many more.
He said “Employment of various categories of workers; Teachers, Health Professionals, civil servants of various cadres etc have been duly given due attentions by way of injecting new and fresh hands in to the state service”.
The MINILS boss used the medium to announce the 40th anniversary of the institute coming up on May, 2023, saying that the event will also feature commissioning of projects in the institute.
The occasion was attended by dignitaries such as former President of the National Association of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin, the newly elected Chairman of NLC Kwara State branch Comrade Muritala Olayinka Saheed, Special Adviser to the Goverrnor on Labour Matter Alhaji Abdulmumin Onagun, all principal officers and staff of MINILS, workers accross the state Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies among others.
