UNILORIN VC elected AWAU Scribe

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has been elected the General Secretary of  the Association of West African Universities (AWAU).


Also elected were Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Vice Chancellor of University of the Cape Coast, Ghana, Chairman; Prof. Herbert Robinson, Vice Chancellor, University of The Gambia, Vice Chairman; and Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Financial Secretary. 

He emerged the new secretary of the association along side the other executives rook place  on Friday (January 20, 2023) as the executives are expected to run the affairs of the AWAU for the next three years.

The emergence was one of the major highlights of the 8th Conference and 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association hosted by the University of The Gambia, Banjul,  that took place between January18th and 20th, 2023.


Meanwhile,  academicians,  government officials, captains of industries, legal luminaries, professional bodies and friends of the University of Ilorin have been congratulating  the Unilorin VC over his new assignment,  describing the feat as a step in a right direction.
