….As University commiserates with Council Chair over uncle’s death
The former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa has described the death of the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, late Professor Muhammed Mustaphda Akanbi SAN as painful and shocking just as he prayed Allah to grant him eternal rest.
Professor Yisa disclosed this at the weekend (December 10, 2022) while speaking at the Fidau of his uncle, Alhaji Mohammed Saba Yisa held at Echi-Wada in Kpada District of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Prof. Yisa who was a lecturer in KWASU and one time Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly described late Professor Akanbi as an asttute administrator and a refined academic who contributed immensely to the growth and development of education in the country.
The former Envoy, while praying God to give the family of late Professor Akanbi and the University community in general the fortitude to bear the loss, also sought Allah’s guidance and protection for the new Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh to be able to fill the vacuum created by the exit of the late Vice Chancellor.

“I congratulate the Acting Vice Chancellor for being chosen without contest after the painful exit of Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN” he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman Governing Council of the Kwara State University, Professor Kpotun Mohammed Baba thanked the council and management of KWASU for commiserating with him and by making the journey to Echi-Wada for the Fidau of his late uncle.
Professor Kpotun described his late Uncle as a very caring, compassionate, considerate and God fearing Muslim.

He explained that the duo of his late father who died in 2018 and his uncle were doing virtually everything together when they were alive including farming, cooking as well as as eating from the same pot, saying that their wives lived with them like that adding that it was the same manner they grew up, as children under their unique relationship.
Speaking on the sideline of the Fidau, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, who led the team of both Council and Management of KWASU to Echi-Wada, commiserated with the Council chairman and the entire family and prayed God to grant the departed soul Aljanat Firdaus.
Also in attendance included the KWASU Registrar, Dr .(Mrs) Kikelomo Sallee; Bursar Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Sanni; University Librarian Dr Abdulsalam Salman; Professor Emmanuel Ajani; Professor Hassan Salihu among other internal and external members of the University Council.

The late Muhammed Saba Yisa popularity known as ‘Baba Tetengi’ was, until his death on December 5th 2022, the ‘Madami of Echi-Wada’.
He died at the age of 89 years after a brief illness and he has since been buried in accordance with Islamic injunction.
