KWASU VC Prof Akanbi and EFCC Zonal Commander

The Kwara State Zonal Commander of the Economic Financial and Crime Commission (EFCC), Usman M. Muktar has commended the management of the Kwara State University (KWASU) for putting in place necessary measures to make students of the institution worthy both in learning and character.
Muktar gave the commendation on Wednesday (October 13, 2021) when the KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN led the team of selected principal officers on a courtesy visit to the EFCC boss in his office at GRA, Ilorin.
The Zonal Commander specifically applauded the Vice Chancellor for swiftly coming up with various robust policies and stringent measures to bring about sanity to the institution.
He explained that the EFCC which is an anti-graft agency was established principally to fight against financial and cyber crimes which have now become order of the day among Nigerian youth in the country and beyond.
Muktar disclosed that the commission arrested some youth including some students of various tertiary institutions in Kwara State who are suspected to be involved in financial cyber crimes.
He promised that the commission would not relent in cleansing the society.
Earlier in his address, the KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Akanbi appreciated the commission for joining hands with the authority of the University in bringing about sanity in the society.
Professor Akanbi who confirmed the rising waves of crimes and criminalities among Nigerian youth, expressed optimism that the concerted efforts of the anti graft agency with the support of critical stakeholders would curb social vices in the society.
The Vice Chancellor explained that the school authority under his leadership was working round the clock to ensure ideal social life for students and provide them with survival kit for the 21st century.
A joint committee, whose membership were drawn from the two institutions, was constituted at the end of the meeting to strengthen the existing collaboration.
On the Vice Chancellor’s entourage included the Dean of Student Affair, Professor Mashood Jimba; Director Legal, Barrister Omotosho Yaqub; Director University Relations, Mr Abdulrazaq Sanni; the Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Mr Is’haq Babatunde, among others.
