The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, has commiserated with his University of Abuja counterpart, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, on the death of his mother, Alhaja Balikis Na’Allah Gold, describing the incident as an irreparable loss not only to her immediate family but also to the people of Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.
Prof. Abdulkareem stated this in a condolence message to the family of the deceased contained in a statement by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun. The late Alhaja Na’Allah died in the early hours of last Monday (June 8, 2020) at the age of 90 years. And she has since been buried according to Muslim rites.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the late Alhaja Na’Allah was an exemplary mother, a great religious personality and a committed community leader who impacted greatly on the society through the raising of outstanding citizens and scholars like Prof. Na’Allah and his siblings.
Prof. Abdulkareem added that her death at this point-in-time was regrettable, considering her services towards the promotion of love, peace, understanding and positive development, which characterised her eventful sojourn on the surface of the earth and for which she was known within and around her immediate community of Ita-Ogunbo, Ilorin, and its neighbourhood.
While urging Prof. Na’Allah, who is the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, and a distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, as well as his siblings to take heart on the demise of their illustrious mother, Prof. Abdulkareem enjoined his counter-part at the University of Abuja and other members of the bereaved family to take solace in late Alhaja Na’Allah’s exemplary life in the services of Allah and humanity in their bid to overcome the challenge that often follows the loss of such a close relation.
The Unilorin Vice-Chancellor prayed Allah to grant the soul of the late Matriarch of Na’Allah family eternal rest and her surviving children, relations and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss her demise represents.
