…..lauds unilorin fm

The Kwara State Government under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is working on modalities to establish a branch of Radio Kwara in Baruten Local Government area of the state, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye said.
The rationale behind the establishment of another branch of Radio Kwara according to the government was to bring governance closer to the people in the grass root through proper dissemination of adequate and up to date information about government programmes and policies.
This was made known by Mr Rafiu Ajakaye while featuring on a Unilorin FM radio programme tagged ‘ORO TO N’ LO’ recently.
He explained to that establishment of such radio station would enable the habitants of the area to levarage on the opportunity to air their views and opinions about government policies and programmes, which will also bring about rapid development to the area.
He commended the staff and management of unilorin fm for the display of professionalism in the discharge of their duties just as he gave kudos to the authority of the better by far University for it’s good foresight in establishing the radio station and other community development oriented projects and programmes of the university.
The Chief Press Secretary further stated that the government had repositioned the state’s ministry of Information to ministry of communication which now embeded in it culture, entertainment and tourism to make it viable to developmental activities and create opportunities for youths in the state who are passionate and ready to engage themselves in entertainment, sports, tourism and culture.
He opined that any youth that has better ideas that will create job opportunities for them and improve their careers can approach either commissioner for Youth and Sports Development or Special Adviser on Youth Matters to the governor, saying that the duo are in charge of catering for the youth development and their future.
The CPS also pledged that the Kwara State Government would continue to maintain and sustain the existing working relationship between her and the University of Ilorin.
Mr Ajakaye said for the government to sustain its robust relationship with the institution, the governor AbdulRazaq led government in the state awarded the contract of mass production of hand sanitizer to the University of recently to the tune of N30 million.
He was confident that the contact would boost the Internally Henerated Revenue of the University, saying that the project was awarded out of mutual understanding between the government and the University management.
The Chief Press Secretary further stressed that the government was ready to work with the University management on the execution and implimentation of any research breakthroughs that will be of benefits to the state.
While responding to questions about successive administraions in the state establishing tertiary institutions, Mr. Ajakaye said Mallam Abdulrahman’s government’s priority is to retore the lost glory of Kwara educational sector and not about personal glory of establishing an institution that may not get the neccessary funding from future governments.
Mr. Ajakaye stressesed that the government was working to ensure that training and retraining of primary and secondary school teachers on the use of Computer Based Tests (CBT) to enable them in turn impact same knowledge on their pupils and students.
The CPS also disclosed that government has concluded arrangements on making funding available for the procurement of neccessary teaching equipments for tertiary institutions in the state.
While commenting on the large number of women in the government, he said what the governor did was in accordance and compliance with the SDGs goal of giving women more opportunity and sense of responsibility in government.
The CPS explained that the voting patern of the country shows clearly that women constitute the larger percentage of voters, hence, it is not out of place to reciprocate their voting performance by appointing them into political offices once they possess the neccessary qualities and qualification.
He also hinted that Governor Abdulrazaq’s cabinet features young and vibrant youth in the corridor of power as majority of the appointees are in their late thirties and early forties.
