KWASU to adopt Malete Primary School- VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN, said arrangements have been concluded by the Universiity authority to adopt a Primary School in Malete as part of the institution’s corporate responsibilities for community services.

Professor Akanbi made the pledge during the week when the Malete Community Development Association (MCDA) paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that the need to adopt the school and furnish it with teachers became necessary to allow the host community properly and adequately key into to the potentials of the Universiity.

He disclosed that the idea was to give the children of the host community sound and qualitative primary education in order to catch them young and prepare them to compete favourably with their counterparts in other high sounding private and government schools in the state.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the standard of that school would be raised such that the staff of the KWASU would be proud to enroll their children in it.

Professor Akanbi also promised that Malete and other neighbouring communities of KWASU would feel the presence of the institution in their domains, adding that the school would look for possibility of attracting basic necessities of life to them to make life more bearable for them.

While thanking the people of Malete and its environs for their sense of understanding and cooperation to the institution, the Vice-Chancellor pledged to be fair and just to all.

Earlier in his address, the leader of the team who doubles as the Registrar of the College of Education, Ilorin, Alhaji Abiodun Ibrahim sought for a robust relationship between KWASU and Malete community and other adjourning communities.

Alhaji Ibrahim specifically appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to help facilitate the construction of Malete road, upgrading of Malete Water Dam, improving the electricity supply in the area and other basic amenities to make life more conducive for them and students living off campus.

Also speaking, the Magaji Malete who spoke through, Alhaji Mustapaha Kabir, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for giving them the ample opportunity to meet with him and specifically appreciated him for all the lofty programmes and projects he has in stock for the people Malete Community its environment.

Giving the vote of thanks, Dr Salman Toyin of Department of Anatomy, Universiity of Ilorin described the emergence of Professor Akanbi as the Vice-Chancellor of the KWASU as very commendable and worthwhile.
