Kwara State Aids Control Agency, (KWASACA) has donated facility waste management and infection control materials to the Technical Committee on COVID-19 as part of measure to contain further spread of disease.
The Project Coordinator and Executive Secretary of KWASACA, Dr Alabi Seleem presented the materials to the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Technical Committee, Mr Kayode Alabi.
Dr Saleem, while presenting the materials explained that the donated itemsa were meant to complement government’s effort at flattening the curve of COVID-19 in the state.
Seleem added the core mandates of his agency is to curb the spread of HIV across the state through health and non health sector responses.
He disclosed that needs assessment had been conducted on infection and waste management across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He said that the result of the assessment showed that there is need to improve on infection and waste management in hospitals across the health facilities which made the agency to donate to the roadside bins, ppes, surgical cap and gloves, rubber boots and gloves, elbow length gloves, Aprons among others to the government.
The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Technical Committee while responding appreciated the support of KWASACA through the donation of infection and waste management equipment.
Alabi assured that the donated equipment would be deployed for use in state health facilities, and was confident that the gesture would go a long way in curbing the spread of covid 19 in the state.
