The Talba of Ilorin and former Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission; Prof.Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem (OFR) will on Sunday, December 29, 2019 preside over the 30th anniversary of an Ilorin-based Socio-Cultural Organisation, the “Pakata Patriots”; Ilorin, beginning at 10.00a.m.
The event, which holds at the Pakata Multipurpose Hall, Ita-Uma Area, Ilorin, would witness the presentation of meritorious awards to six distinguished and deserving indigenes of Ilorin including the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof.Abdulganiyu Ambali, (OON); the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Mallam Is’haq Modibbo Kawu; the former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Kwara State Chapter, Comrade Abdulmumini Onagun; and the Director of Projects, Rural Electrification Agency, Abuja, Engr.Kale Kawu Agaka. Others are a former Deputy Provost, Kwara State College of Education Ilorin, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim Saleeman; and the immediate past Principal of Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin; Hajia Ramat Olabisi AbdulRahman; for their contributions to the development of the Pakata community.
A statement signed by the Association’s Secretary, Abubakar Imam, said that the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, will be the Distinguished Guest of Honour while the Managing Director, Ilera Pharmaceuticals Ilorin, Hajiya Ramat Aduke Kuranga, will serve as the Chairwoman.
Imam,who is also the National Publicity Secretary-elect of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), added that the event will be preceded by a Novelty football match between members of the Club and some prominent celebrities from within and outside Ilorin,on Saturday (December 28,2019) at the Government Girls Day Secondary School, Pakata, Ilorin,by 4p.m
He added that a renowned Islamic scholar and Imam of Oladele-Sakele Mosque in the Oke-Agodi Area of Ilorin, Shaykh Suleiman Busari Mahmud, is expected to serve as the Guest Speaker at the event that would attract other prominent personalities from all walks of life and the Alangua of Ubandawaki Ward, Alhaji AbdulGafar Baba Pakata, will be the Father of the Day.
Imam, therefore, enjoined members of the public to attend the event punctually as it promises to be very memorable.
