First Lady of Kwara State, Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has again admonished parents and guardians to raise their children in a godly manner for them to be useful for themselves and the society at large.
Mrs AbdulRazaq gave the admonition on Thursday (December 12, 2109), during a workshop on Peace & Security Symposium organised by a Non Governmental Organization, Education for All Foundation (EFAF) with the theme: “Education as a tool for curbing Insecurity, Terrorism and other Social Vices” held at the NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin, yesterday.
The First Lady, who was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Mariam Ayodeji Garba, said a non-chalant attitude towards upbringing of children has resulted into youth restiveness, drug abuse, cultism among other vices.
The First Lady, accordingb to a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Yakub K. Aliagan, however reiterated her commitment to partner with stakeholders and Non Government Organization towards eradicating all forms of social vices among the youths in the State.
In her words, “if we have a shared commitment to play our various parts as government, as parents and as pupils, we will eradicate all forms of social vices in our society and this will transform our children to be focused, productive and useful to self and society.”
Earlier, the Convener of the Symposium, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Paranti has commended the present administration for taking Education as a priority and also embarking on people oriented projects.
He said Education for all Foundation is ready to partner with the present administration in its bid to eliminate youth restiveness in our state.
Some of the dignitaries that spoke on the menace of Social Vices include, representative of Commissioner of Police, Representative of state Commander, NDLEA Kwara, Chairperson of Kwara State Drug Abuse Committee, among others.
