The Engineers handling the ongoing repairs and reconstruction of four waterworks in Kwara State have assured that works would soon completed.
They also expressed optimism that the impact of Government in ensuring adequte water supply to all and sundry would be felt as soon as the work completed.
It would be recalled that the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq recently released a substantial amount for the State Ministry of Water Resources to fix some abandoned waterworks in the state.
The waterworks are Asa-Dam Waterworks, Igbaja Waterworks, Kaiama Waterworks, Pategi Waterworks and Lafiagi Waterworks among others.
Some of the Engineers who spoke with newsmen in Ilorin, expressed optimism that when completed, ongoing reconstruction would ease the sufferings of the people.
Engr. Olatunde Mike, Engr. Isiaka Ibraheem, Engr. Taiye Salami, and Engr. Sunday Bamidele, handlling Igbaja, Kaiama, Lafiagi Asa-Dam and Pategi waterworks respectively, stated that the works in their respective areas are now 90-95 percent completion.
An Engineer handling Igbaja waterworks, Engr. Bamidele Sunday specifically said that no fewer than fourteen villages would benefit from the ongoing reconstruction of Igbaja Dam after completion.
Engr Sunday in a release made available to the newsmen in Ilorin by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resourses, Olalekan Issa-Onilu, said that the works were going on at the expected pace in various sites.
He explained that at Igbaja waterworks, he had done with the installation of intakes because that is where the water is coming to the downstream, hinted that irration, highlift, and dosing pump had been installed.
“Other areas that had been completed including the filter Media, adaptation, and also the work is seriously going on on the deaeration that will feed water into the water tank”.
“The work is almost completed on the civil work of the treated building in the Dam with hope that after we have done with it, we will start the text running of the work tomorrow (Friday) to determine whether there are bust in those already installed pipe.
While commending the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahmam Abdulrazaq for putting the machineries in place, he specifically lauded him for giving the Engineers at the Ministry the opportunities to showcase their talents, adding that it has now clearly showed that civil servant in the state were capable to do their work diligently without any fear or favour .
He said that the present administration had written its names in gold as far as the Kwara State is concerned for showing the general public that there are good hands among the civil servant instead of giving works that supposed to be carried out by civil servant to outsiders.
