An appeal has gone to President Muhammadu Buhari to come up with a policy that will give children from Orphanage homes special privilege to secure job opportunity with ease after graduation.
The Chairman of Islamic Orphanage Foundation (IOF), Architect Ahmad Saefullah Alege made the call on Sunday in Ilorin, the kwara state capital, during the IOF’s annual Orphanage Day held at Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) Secretariat, Gerin Alimi, Ilorin.
This special consideration, according to him, would be of great assistance to them as indigent members of the society whom parents are no more to shoulder their responsibilities.
Alege also appealed to governments at all levels, captains of industries and corporate bodies in Nigeria to assist in the appointment opportunities for the products of the IOF who are graduates but yet to secure employment opportunities.
The IOF Chairman particularly commended the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammdau Buhari for directing the Nigerian Customs Service to make donations of food items and clothing materials to IOF and other similar organizations in Nigeria.
He said the gesture was not only helpful and supportive but also timely and worthwhile.
He disclosed that IOF has a total of 276 orphans under it’s care, adding that 179 of the figure are in both primary and post Primary schools, 84 are in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria while the remaining 13 have graduated from various tertiry institutions across the country in 2018.
He explained that orphans from various states with genuine claim, including Chriatain orphans are under the IOF care.
He disclosed that IOF came into being in 2002 with just 10 orphans, and expressed gratitude to God that 17 years down the ladder, the foundation has now has total of 276 orphans under it’s care.
He added that the IOF has produced Doctor, Engineers and several other professionals including those who learned vocational skills among the 13 graduates it produced in 2018.
The chairman thanked the private individuals, including Christians, for their regular contributions towards the sustainablly of the foundation.
He appealed to the governments and other well meaning Nigerians to continue to support the foundation in it’s frantic efforts to make life more bearable for the children of those that have gone to the world beyond.
In his lecture, the Head of Department of Arabic Language, University of Ilorin, Dr Khalilullahi Gbodofu admonished people to be fair and just with orphans warning that great punishment awaits those who maltreat the orphans.
Gbodofu thanked the IFO for picking interest in the welfare of orphans, saying that Allah has promised those who take good care of orphans His paradise on the Day of judgement.
