The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman,Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari(CFR), has expressed his willingness at sparing no effort in facilitating the all-round positive transformation of his Emirate.
The Emir stated this on Wednesday (March 27, 2019) at his palace while playing host to a delegation of the Ilorin Emirate Descendant Progressive Union (IEDPU) led by its Ag.National President, Alhaji Yahaya O.Ahmed.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari said that, to him,no sacrifice was too great to be made at enhancing the development of Ilorin Emirate.He urged other indigenes of Ilorin to always think of the corporate interests of Ilorin in their day to day engagement.
The Emir,who is also the Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, challenged the Union to swiftly stimulate the institutionalization of a forum of Professors of Ilorin Emirate origin with a view to providing a platform through which the unity and progress of Ilorin could be pursued and sustained using intellectual means.
He particularly urged all those egg-heads, working at and around Ilorin, specifically, those in the services of the University of Ilorin and the Kwara State University, Malete, to come together, without further delay, for the love of the people of Ilorin Emirate.
The Emir, who recalled the role he played in stimulating a similar congregation of professionals and technocrats of the old Kwara State, working in then North-Eastern State in the early 1970s, said that the benefit derivable from such a think-tank are too many to be glossed-over.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari,who is also a retired Jurist,urged the umbrella socio-cultural organization of the people of Ilorin Emirate to remain non-partisan and pro-active on issues that will aid the progress of Ilorin Emirate.
He assured the Union of his readiness to always offer his experience, weight,voice and Influence to ensure that the progressive agenda of the Union and the community at large materialised.
Earlier, the Ag. National President of the IEDPU,Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed, had intimated the Emir of some developmental challenges facing the Emirate and the desire of the Union for the Emir’s interventions in securing the interest of the Emirate on some pressing issues.
The Union also commisserated with the foremost traditional ruler on the recent demise of the Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar(OON), and the Serikin Driver of Ilorin, Alhaji Salihu Olarongbe.
The Ag.National President was accompanied on the visit by the Union’s Chief Scribe, Prof. Abubakar Siddiq Mohammed (Afunku); the National Treasurer, Alhaji S.I.M.Sebutu and the Chairman,IEDPU,Central Zone,Alhaji Abubakar Saheed Alaya.Others who were on the delegation were Alhaji Bolaji Alaya,Alhaji Yakubu Mustapha and the Union’s National Publicity Secretary,Mr.Abubakar S.Imam.
