Special Adviser to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on International Relations, Honourable Olusegun Omotunde, has decsribed the landsland victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded general elections in Kwara state as a clear departure from long years of financial boundage and economic tyranny in the state.
He said the emergence of APC candidates in all elected positions in the state signified the return of the much awaited political freedom the state had craved.
Omotunde, who was elated with the Kwarans’ voting pattern that ushered in all candidates of the APC, called on political heavyweights in the state APC to ensure that all hands are on deck in the struggle to collectively move the state to an enviable standard.
He observed that the outcome of the elections in the state was a true reflection of the wish of the people.
Omotunde urged leaders of the APC in the state to remain united and speak with one voice, adding that the aim of freeing Kwara from the shackles of underdevelopment will be defeated if key players of the party are divided.
Omotunde, who hails from Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, therefore called on the Governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, not to be distracted with the euphoria of his victory but hit the ground running by coming up with lofty programmes and projects that would address the various problems bedevilling Kwara as a state.
While noting that people’s expectations were very high, Omotunde particularly urged the Governor-elect to, as a matter of priority, do a critical survey on project that might be of priority in every part of the state and execute each at a time.
According to him, what should be accorded utmost priority in Kwara North, for instance, might be good road network, adding that Kwara Central and Kwara South might also need another projects.
Omotunde who observed that the people of Kwara North have suffered neglect by the previous administrations in the state in terms of provision of basic infrastructure such as good road network, said he was not surprised that people of Kaiama and Baruteen areas voted PDP out during the last election.
The legislative aide to the House of Representatives Deputy Speaker also saluted the courage of the people of Kwara Central and South for realising that their destinies lie in their hands by putting a stop to a bad governance through free, fair and credible elections in the state.
He therefore called on people of the state to be patient with the incoming administration, saying that things had been destroyed, adding that it takes a little time to destroy but requires longer time to do the amendment.
