Governor-elect, Abdulrasaq
An Ilorin-based socio-cultural outfit,”the Coremates,Ilorin”,has felicitated with the Kwara State Governor-elect,Alhaji AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq and the Senator-elect for the Kwara Central,Dr.Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as well as other newly-elected legislators on their electoral successes, describing their emergence as a rare privilege for them to serve the good people of the state and humanity.
The Club stated this in a statement jointly-signed by its Co-ordinator-General, Barrister Tosho Yakub, and the Secretary, Mr Demola Abdulkadir, a copy of which was made available to HIGHPROFILE over the weekend.
The organisation, which is peopled by middle-aged modern and eminent professionals of Ilorin Emirate origin who are based at home and away, also saluted the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki (CON), and other compatriots who contested but were unsuccessful for swiftly accepting the outcome of the contest as the will of Allah manifested in the wishes of the electorate, saying that that singular act has demonstrated that democratic ethos has now become part of democracy in the state.
The “Coremates, Ilorin”, charged those elected to dispationately discharge the responsibilities of their various offices without any form of discrimination as it said that it was the right of Kwarans to enjoy the much-orchestrated dividends of democracy, no matter their religious, ethnic or political inclinations, as promised during electioneering.
The Club particularly reminded the Governor-elect to ensure that his administration upholds probity, justice, fairness and impartial service delivery to all and sundry, stating that his promises of economic prosperity must not be a political gimmick but must be made a reality to justify the unprecedented support his aspiration enjoyed from Kwarans.
The Club added that Alhaji AbdulRasaq must also sustain the prevailing peace of the state. He was reminded that peace and harmony are precursors to economic development and that nothing should be allowed to jeopardise the age-long reputation of the “State of Harmony” for her greatness to be achieved and sustained.
While the Club prayed the almighty Allah to guard and guide the in-coming administration in the enormous tasks ahead, it assured of its readiness to support the goverment of Alhaji AbdulRasaq in achieving its policies and programmes.
The statement noted that its non-partisan status and disposition would not prevent it from raising its voice and making its impact felt in ensuring that the human and material resources of the state are deplored in such a way that the development of the state and the nation will be accentuated for the good of all.
