Yakubu Gobir
A Civil Society Organization, Better Community Life Initiative has described a governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir as a grassrootp politician who had impacted positively on the lives of the less privileged.
The Team Leader of the organization, Comrade Richards Adebayo gave the description in a statement issued in Ilorin on Tuesday.
Adebayo who is the Chairman, Forum of Civil Society Groups in Kwara state accredited as observers for 2019 general elections, particularly praised Gobir for his capacity development programmes.
The statement said rating of Gobir was based on public opinion which the organization gathered in the course of carrying out an independent assessment.
The statement further described him as a great philanthropist who is known for humanitarian services especially for people at the grassroots in the areas of health, education, youth development and general well-being of the masses among others.
The statement reads in part “we as a civil society group decided to publicly rate Alhaji Yakubu Gobir based on public opinion about his positive impacts we gathered on the field.
“His contributions to capacity building development is really commendable. His contributions financially and morally to the success of his party is highly inspiring.
“It is equally worthy of note his contributions to community development despite the fact that he did not hold any political office”.
The statement urged political office holders and other well meaning individuals to emulate him as a way of collectively alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged.
The group also praised the Kwara South Senatorial Chairman of APC, Hon Olabanji Opeyemi for his contributions to the success of the party.
It urged the duo to sustain their good works in the interest of over all development of the state and the country at large.
