The Labour Party Governorship candidate in kwara state, Comrade Issa Aremu mni, has described the ex-gorvernor pension law in the state as a criminal offence, just as he promised to repeal the law and free the resources to build housing units, open up good roads and cushion the effect of workers’ salaries if elected as governor of the state come March 9th 2019.
Comrade said it is appalling and very inhuman to build two houses plus monthly salary of huge sum of money for a two-termed governor in kwara state where close to 80 per cent of citizens are homeless.
Aremu made his position known on Friday in his lecture at the ‘2019 World Zero Discrimination Day’ organised by the Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Center (NIWOSEC) held at KWACCIMA House, Afon junction, Ganmo, area, Ilorin.
The governorship hopeful who expressed dissatisfaction over the provision of the pension law, said that obnoxious law is one of the contributing factors to the state perpetual underdevelopment.
“How can two termed Governor, who already has enough houses being paid monthly pension for the position that is not even pensionable?
” The law says worker should work for the minimum of 10 years before you can be entitled to pension and these same workers have worked for 35 years, yet their pension are not paid.
“The two termed governors who generously govern for eight years, some of them have stolen money, they have security votes, then we still reward them with houses both in the state and in a place of their choice in Abuja. This is purely criminal and human inhuman treatment” he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Director of NIWOSEC, Comrade Eyindero said the center was marking the World Indiscrimination Day as part of its frantic efforts to kick against Indiscrimination among one another.
Comrade Eyindero said NIWOSEC is a non political organisation with a mission statement targeted at building patriotic and value-adding workforce which promotes dignity of labour and contributes substantially to national development.
He added that the World Zero Discrimination Day was organised by NIWOSEC to sensitise members of the public on the need to shun discrimination against one another and embrace justice, equity, fairness and true love so as to usher in rapid growth and development in the country.
