The MMGIVIT Charity Initiative, an Ilorin based charitable organisation, has commenced this year edition of its annual charitable week, targeting at uplifting the standard of the less privileged in the society through provision of quality education, sound health and charity.
This year edition of the weeklong charitable event had been slated to hold between 15th and 26th of January, 2019 covering health, education and charity programmes.
The convener of the organisation, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, disclosed that this year event of the initiative started on Tuesday, 15th of January, 2019 with Interactive Session with Community Development Associations across the state at African Peoples Hall, Onikanga street, G.R.A. Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, where 200 participants were in attendance.
Professor Akanbi said the objective of the interactive session was to engage in advocacy and enlightenment session on charity with Community Development Associations in the state.
He said Monday, 21st January 2019 has been slated for Day-2 of the week which is focusing on Health Awareness where 1000 beneficiaries have been earmarked to benefit from health counseling and free medical tests such as diabetes, blood pressure issues, obesity and other related tests.
He hinted that the Monday programme of the initiative will hold at Queens Hall Premises, number 5, Unity Road, Ilorin from 10:00am to 4:00 pm
Akanbi disclosed further that Day-3 of the even is on Tuesday, 22nd of January 2019 and will feature career and mental health counseling for SS 3 Students in Kwara state.
According to him, the career and counselling talk will hold at African Peoples Hall between 10am and 2pm where not less than 500 students are expected to benefit from the career guidance programme.
He said Thursday, 24th of January 2019 will equally feature the 3rd edition of the finals of the 2019 MMGIVIT Poetry Competition for secondary schools in the state where 200 students will be beneficiaries.
The finals, he said, will hold at African People Hall, Onikanga Road, GRA Ilorin between10am and 2pm.
Professor added that the weeklong charity initiative programmes will reach the climax on Saturday, 26th of January 2019 with the giving out of durable items to the less privileged at Nana Aishat Academy, Sobi Road, Akerebiata, Ilorin beginning from 10am to 4pm, pledging that adequate provision had been made for 3000 would be beneficiaries.
