Founder of the kwara based Non-Governmental Organisation, Bazarab Educational Foundation, Dr (Mrs) Zainab Balogun has identified huge investment in girls child education as a panacea for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Dr Balogun disclosed this on Friday (November 2, 2018) while featuring on a special live programme on Unilorin 89.3 FM, and called on government at all levels to direct their searchlights in female education for the attainment of rapid socioeconomic development.
She explained that the high rate of uneducated girls child in the society prompted her decision to float Bazarab educational foundation to cater for the indigent children in the society.
Balogun disclosed that research revealed that over 10,000 uneducated girls children are roaming the streets and called for urgent solution by all stakeholders in education sector to arrest the ugly trend.
She attributed Nigeria’s perpetual backwardness to the low level of female education, pointing out that educating a female child is tantamount to educating a whole nation.
She stated further that her foundation was working round the clock to ensure that all children are back in school and as well have access to sound and qualitative education.
Balogun therefore identified introduction of vocational skills in the school curricular as a major weapon for fighting the imminent joblessness being experienced in the contemporary society, pointing out that the reality on ground has shown clearly that white collar job is not easy to come by in the present day Nigeria.
Dr Balogun who doubles as Deputy Director in the kwara state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development canvassed for review of educational curricular to meet up with the current societal needs in the country.
Job opportunity will become an easy task for Nigeria graduate if vocational skill is attached to their curriculum right from primary school.
She explained that the focal point of her foundation’s attention was to create awareness and necessary support, morally and financially, for indigent children especially felame child for them to live up to the dream of their lives like their male counterparts.
