Lai Mohammed, Gani Adams, Oloro sue for peace in Oro community Community is very important and has many factors like kinship, unity, and identity. Community helps society because it creates solutions, provides security and reveals dedication. It discovers truthfulness.
Communities are part of everyday life and have positive effects on its members. Communities can be found everywhere and can be created anywhere.
You may be unaware of it but you are part of a community not only base on your location, but also base on your lifestyle, your religion, your heritage, your education, or your abilities.
The sons and daughters of Okeola Oro community of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara have converged at the Muslim Community Primary School, Oro to celebrate 2018 Okeola Oro Day and to also raise an appeal fund of N100 ,000,000 for the construction of the community township Hall and presentation of Awards to some dignitaries that had contributed to the growth and development of the Oro town.
Some of the dignitaries in attendance include the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulraheem Age Sulaiman, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, Chief Ganiyu Adams and the Chef Imam of Offa Land, Sheikh Muyideen
Other important guests at the colourful event were the Olupo of Ajase Ipo, Oba Sikirullah Woleola Sanni. Elese of Igbaja, HRH, Oba Ahmadu Babalola Awani, the Elesie of Esie, HRH, Oba Mohammed Yaqub Babalola among other rulers and Chiefs.
The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Muyiwa Oladipo, Mathew Babaoye, a member of the state House of Assembly, Kolawole Emilagba, Vice Chairman, Lagos Mainland Local Government, Henry Bilesanmi, former Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara Command among other special guests in attendance.
In his remark, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, Chief Ganiyu Adams said unity of all the Yorubas has been his campaign since he assumed office as the new Aare of Onakakanfo.
Chief Adams, while attested to the fact that the Yorubas are endowed, identified unity as one of the major challenges facing Yorubas in Nigeria.
The Onakakanfo mentioned that he has been in the forefront of fighting for the unity of the entire Yorubas in the world, called for unity among the Yorubas, especially the people of Oro Kingdom.
According to him, “the rate at which some of these traditional rulers from Kwara State attended my corronation ceremony was a testimony that, the Yorubas in Kwara State accepted my assignment as the new Aare Onakakanfo of the Yoruba Land.
“I will be forever grateful and work assiduously to ensure unity and progress among the Yorubas, especially the people of Oro “.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who is an industrious son of the town, appreciated all those who have came to rejoice and donate meaningfully to the development of the projects at hands.
Mohammed mentioned that he has used his influence as Minister in the country to influence laudable projects that have brought about remarkable development to Oro.
The Minister, while assuring the people of the community of more Projects and supports by the Federal Government, called for unity among the people of the the community.
The founder, Taiwo Mustapha Foundation and the Chairman of the Occasion, Alhaji Taiwo Muatapha identified unity as one of the problems facing by the Yorubas.
Alhaji Mustapha recalled that the last time the Okeola Oro Day was held was in 2009, Saying that the occasion had brought unity among the people of the Oro with the celebration of the 2018 Okeola Oro Day.
He frowned at the level of the development in Oro, promised that he would use his influence and available resources to bring about tremendous progress and development to the Okeola Oro .
The Chairman of the Day, said, without unity and cooperation among the people of the town, there can’t be development among the people of Oro.
The Oloro of Oro, HRH, Oba Rafiu Ajiboye Oyelaran thanked every one who had came to rejoice and donate handsomely to the development of Oro.
The Royal Father pledged to continue to play a fatherly roles among the people of the entire Oro towns and villages for the progress of the communities and the people.
He told the people of Oro to continue to appreciate and respect the good heritage,culture , custom and tradition of the Oro kingdom.
In his earlier address,the Chairman of Okeola Oro Community, Alhaji Salhiu Bayo Kadiri informed that, Okeola Oro is one of the communities that formed Oro and a very prominent among the Oro generic towns(Eku mesan Oro).
According to him, “For the past several years, Okeola Oro Community has been living with each other with fear and insecurity due to lack of mutual understanding with ourselves “but today, we thank God that the situation has changed for the better. “
