The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has called on indigenes of Ilorin Emirate who have just been promoted to professorial level to see it as a challenge and continue to engage in ground-breaking researches for the growth and development of the society.
The Emir gave the advice on Satuday at his Palace during a special prayer he organised for indigenes of the Emirate that have just bagged the professorial appointment from University of Ilorin and Kwara State University.
The Emir described the massive production of Professors in the Emirate as a thing of joy to the community and wished the celebrants long life and good health to be able to enjoy the fruit of their labour in the academic.
Also speaking on the sideline of the event, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendant Progressive Union (IEDPU), Ambassador Sheikh Usman Abdulazeez thanked God for the massive production of Profrssors in the Emirate, describing it as the beginning of the glad tiding in the Emirate.
Abdulazeez therefore advised the new professors, SAN and others to set good example and mentor those coming behind them so as to collectively move the Emirate forward.
The IEDPU National President also urged the SAN and the new professors not to relent saying that their new position is a challenge and urged them to prove their metle so as to show that they are capable and that they can do better.
The Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdulhameen Abdullahi presided over the prayer as he sought for God’s guidance and protection over the celebrants, indigenes of the Emirate and the entire Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the former GrandKadi of Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulmutolib Ambali organised a special prayer for the four Emirate indigenes that were promoted to Professorial position from the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin.
The prayer session, which held at
Agbojulogun Mosque, Okekere area of Ilorin immediately after the Emir’s prayer, was also attended by other new professors and a large number of dignataries from the Emirate.
The honourees include Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi of Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin who was officially conferred with a prestigious position of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on Monday in Abuja.
While the new Professors from Universsity of Ilorin are Professor Shehu Adaramaja – Human Kinetic Education; Professor Abdulfatah Olokoba – Medicine; Professor Alafara A. Baba – Industrial Chemistry; Professor Akanbi II – Medical Microbiology; Professor Kajogbola R. Ajao – Mechanical. Engineering; Professor Abubakar – English; Professor Abdulwahab O. Issa – Librarian; Professor (Mrs) Aishat Gobir – Paediatrics; Professor L. A. Usman – Chemistry; Professor Nihmat Modupe Abdulraheem – Law; Professor Ibrahim Arowosaiye Yusuf – Law; Professor Ibrahim Abikan – Law; Professor Abdulrazzaq Alaro – Law; Professor Isa Alabi Abubakar – Arabic; Prof. M. K. Mustapha – Zoology; and Professor Baba Issa – Behavioural Science all of the University of Ilorin.
The trio of Professor Mashood Mahmood Jimba of Arabic/Language/Literature Department; Professor Ambali Abdulrauf of Economics Department and Professor Abdulkabeer Hussein of Department of Islamic Studies all of the Kwara State University were parts of the newly appointed profeesors.
While the duo of Mr Kazeem Kayode Babamale and Mrs Bilqees Saadu were promoted to the position of Deputy Registrar in the University of Ilorin.
