The President, Junior Chamber International(JCI) Kwara State Polytechnic chapter, Suleimon Kudirat Temitope has called on Non Governmental Organisations to continue to support government in order to make health facilities available and accessible to the people.
Sulaimon stated this during a free health services carried out on the aged men and women at Isale Aluko area of Ilorin, the Capital of Kwara State.
According to her, hundreds of persons including the aged and vulnerable are the beneficiaries of the exercise that took place in Isale Aluko and its environs.
She mentioned that the beneficiaries were attended to in the areas of Malaria treatment , Blood Pressure and Aids and HIV tests.
Temitope also advised government to continue to create opportunities for people to know their medical status.“let me advise Government to explore all avenues to ensure that they create opportunities for people to know the condition of their health status to ensure early detection of ailment which is easier and cheaper to correct”.
She added, “government should try her best to always organize free medical check up and screening for people at least once in a month across the country”
Kudirat identified finance as one of the reasons why people failed to visit hospitals for quality medical attention. “In our society today, there are lot of sick people but because they lack money to take care of their health, they prefer sitting at home or involve in self medication”.
She also explained that the JCI Kwara State Polytechnic took the bull by the horn’ by organising a free medical test having realized that there are a lot of old people around the communities who are not aware of their health status.
He said the primary objective of JCI was to assist in reducing sickness, diseases and untimely death among our people as we believe health is wealth”.
Temitope observed that many people are busy after acquiring money and neglected their health. She implored people to frequently visit hospitals for medical attention.
The association also carried out general environmental cleaning in the Kwara State Polytechnic to ensure that the school is free from germs and diseases.
JCI visited the office of the Kwara State Polytechnic Rector where it donated a dust bin to the representative of the Rector, Mrs Olubunmi Ajibade, a Deputy Rector.
She however announced that the JCI convention is holding in Ilorin later this month (June).
This is a laudable project and I hope other NGOs in the state & country in general can emulate this idea from the younger ones.
