The Kwara State Government has said that the major concrete works on the ongoing construction of Geri Alimi Diamond Split Underpass has reached 70% completion.
Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Works and Transport, Alhaji Yusuf Garba Manjo disclosed this yesterd during his inspection visit to the site of the project said the beams installation in the 2nd bridge had been completed.
He added that the back filling, earth work and drainage for the underpass had commenced.
This and other developments on the site, according to him is an indication that the expected period for completion would be achieved.
The Permanent Secretary however advised the contractors handling the construction to execute the project in line with the specifications.
He also urged the contractor to put all hands on deck to ensure speedy completion of the project with a view to meeting the targeted time frame.
The Chief Resident Engineer in the site,Engr. J.O Bamigboye said the construction works were being executed as designed, adding that the project has reached 70% completion.
The contractor is currently working on the deck and bottom slab of the 1st bridge, backfilling at both Asa-Dam and Olorunsogo ends,excavation of drainage at the underpass, earthwork at the underpass dual carriageway.
The work is expected to be completed soon with the speed contractor is handling the project.
