The Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin, Prof. Noah Yusuf has advised parents, teachers and students to live together in harmony and imbibe the culture of peace so as to have a peaceful and united nation.

Prof. Yusuf gave the advice on Wednesday (July 10, 2019) in his lecture at a seminar jointly organised by the Centre and the UNESCO Peace Writing Piloting Programme held at Bishop Smith Memorial College, Ilorin.

The Director, who was the Lead Paper Presenter at the programme, identified the culture of war, conflict and disagreement as some major contributing factors responsible for socio-religious crises in Nigeria.

Prof. Yusuf called on all and sundry to cultivate the habit of religious tolerance, culture of peace and love for one another irrespective of religion or tribal differences, saying that doing these will promote growth and development in the country.

Also in her lecture, a lecturer at the CPSS, Dr. (Mrs.) Biola  Adimula, stressed the need for Nigerians to see themselves as one and live together in peace and tranquility.

In her address, the Head of the National Library, Kwara State branch, Mrs. Olani, enjoined people to shun rumour mongering, side talks, and other tendencies that can brew crises in the society.

The event, which was attended by students from six selected secondary schools in Ilorin, also featured presentation of gifts to schools that took first, second and third positions in the writing competition.
