IEDPU mourns Etsu Pategi.

The death of the Etsu Pategi and Vice-Chairman,Kwara State Council of Chiefs,Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar,has been described as a great loss to his kingdom and the nation.

This tribute was contained in a condolence letter addressed to the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed;the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR and the Pategi Emirate Council by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union.

The letter,which was jointly-signed by the Union’s Acting National President, Alhaji Yahaya O.Ahmed and the National Secretary, Professor Abubakar Siddiq Mohammed, described the late Alhaji Umar as a foremost traditional ruler who served and protected the enviable culture and traditions of the aboriginal Nupe people to the best of his ability.

The IEDPU said that the late monarch conducted himself with elegance and finesse required of the occupant of that distinguished stool throughout his eventful reign.

The Union,while commisserating with the people of Pategi Emirate and entire Nupe-speaking people,said that the nation will miss the services and examplary dispositions of the foremost Monarch.

The IEDPU charged the people of Pategi Emirate not to be saddened by the demise of their traditional ruler but take consolation in the fact that he lived a life worthy of emulation.

The Union prayed Allah to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and the good people of Pategi Emirate and the entire Nupeland the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
