Read what FOMWAN told Unilorin new VC

The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) has appealed to the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem to maintain and sustain the legacy of modesty and high level of maturity  among the staff and students bequeathed him by his predecessors.

The Hamirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Silifat Ishola gave the advice on Friday during the association’s congratulatory visit to the new Vice Chancellor in his office.

Hajia Ishola who congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his success during the selection process, appealed to him to place high premium on students’ discipline especially on mode of dress and other humane character that are known with students of the better by far university institution.

Hamirah particularly enjoined the Vice  Chancellor  to address contemporary issues  that will fast attack development and foster unity among the members of the university community and commended the Professor of Chemical Engineering  for adopting an open door policy.

She  also urged the Vice-Chancellor to take a cue from good leadership style of his predecessors by mentiaining cordial relationships with principal officers, staff and students of the institution. This, she believes, is the way to have a peaceful, successful and prosperous tenure of office.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, said the Ivory Tower will not derail from the moral etiquette that was introduced and sustained by his predecessors.

Abdulkareem said University of Ilorin has a dress code which was introduced to ensure the institution is kept safe of immoral and illicit behavior.

He pledged to do everything within his power to ensure that the institution remains the most peaceful and enviable University in Nigeria.

He howeve sought the support and prayers of all and sundry for him to have a  successful tenure of office like  his immediate predecessor, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali (OON).

Other members of the FOMWAN team in attendance included the state Public Relations Officer of the association, Hajia Baliqees Oladimeji, a former Commissioner in Kwara State, Hajia Halimat Yusuf, among others.
