The founder and Editor-In-Chief of the Fresh Insight Newspaper, Comrade Abdulrasheed Akogun said arrangements have been concluded to commence weekly production of the newspaper beginning from January, 2020.
Akogun said Fresh Insight Newspaper places high premium on fighting for the societal good as against comraderie dance with glaring anti-masses forces.
Speaking at the 5th annual Fresh Insight Summit, themed ” Kwara Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” held at the Kwara state Banquet Hall, Ilorin on Sunday (December 8, 2109), Akogun disclosed that the main focus of the newspaper has been to further its good governance drive, premised on the principles of participatory and collaboratory governance.
“I must at this juncture emphasise that government belongs to the governed and not those governing, so whoever stands with the governed against oppression is actually pro-government (the masses) and not the other way round.
“Smarting from this reality, we’ve mastered the art and act of outliving the doomsday without tinkering with our principled stand of being the amplifier of the voiceless voices against any artificial clog and all other inhibitive and exploitative tendencies, through our pen.
“Staying true to our vision, today’s summit themed: “Kwara: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” promises to further our good governance drive, premised on the principles of participatory and collaboratary governance” Akogun said.
Akogun who quoted US Congressman, James Clyburn, said the sole purpose of government is to establish Justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
“This unambiguous definition shows that rather than those standing with the established principles of the society being labeled anti-government, it is actually the power mongers, the insatiable elites and their co-travellers that are anti-government, if the Nigerian reality of today is to relied upon” he said.
He explained that the established principles can only thrive in a society where press are allowed to stick strictly to its professional editorial principles as being pursued vigorously by the Fresh Insight Newspaper.
He solicited for support and patronages to enable the paper continues to relevant and survive.
“I enjoin us all to please come do business with the Fresh Insight brand, as only this will help us prove to the world, especially the naysayers that one can stand on principled alignment with the masses and survive in the business world” he said.
The summit was chaired by Dr Lambe Mustapha, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, while the Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Is’haq Modibbo Kawu was the guest speaker.
Other dignitaries in attendance include the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun; the Ag Station Manager Unilorin fm Mr Idris Ibrahim Alooma; proprietor of Sobi Fm Mallam Lukman Mustpaha among others.
