2019: Group pledges six million votes for Atiku

A political group, Coalition of Saraki Advocates for Atiku (COSAA), has promised to deliver six million votes for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The National Coordinator of COSAA, Ambassador Ola Kolawole, disclosed this in Ilorin yesterday while addressing a press conference alongside other executive and members on the preparation of the group for mobilisation of votes across the country.

Kolawole said the coalition, which was launched last month, was purposely conceived to canvass one million votes each from the six geo-political zones.

Lamenting the level of hunger and poverty among the populace, the COSAA coordinator said the current government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) can no longer be trusted to take the nation to the promised land.

Kolawole also berated the present administration for its failure to provide jobs for several unemployed graduates, saying the figures of people without jobs from the National Bureau of Statistics called for concern of all stakeholders.

He regretted the wanton killings in parts of the country, which he pointed out, had escalated insecurity in recent times and called for change in the nation’s leadership.

Kolawole noted that the PDP was voted out of power in 2015 not on the basis of non-performance but mainly on insecurity ravaging the North Eastern part.

He specifically expressed concern on the continued killing of innocent people in Zamfara State and sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives to the banditry in the state.

The COSAA coordinator attributed the lingering problems of hunger, poverty and security to lack of leadership and urged Nigerians to team up and install government that holds sanctity of human life in high esteem.

He appealed to Nigerians to support what he called “the leadership with solutions to the Nigeria problems”, pledging that Atiku would make a better President if elected in next year’s polls.

Kolawole, who praised the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki on his recent move at harmonising the PDP for victory in 2019, said his group had passed a vote of confidence in his leadership.

“It is no more news that the primary aim of COSAA is to canvass vote from all the 36 States of Nigeria for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar through a door to door mobilisation project, which was launched on November 1, 2018.

“This coalition is purposely to canvass minimum of six million votes, one million votes each from the six geo political zones of Nigeria for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP in 2019 general elections. The project is aimed at complementing the efforts of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who is the Director General of PDP presidential campaign.

“Today, we are very proud to say that with the available database of our members, COSAA is set to deliver minimum of six votes promised to PDP in 2019 general elections”, Kolawole said.
