In a bid to foster a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability, the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA) has conducted a five-day in-house capacity building training programme for the staff.
This was contained in a statement signed by the press secretary of the agency, Abdulazeez Kudirat Olaide, on Wednesday 6th August 2025, and made available to the newsmen.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training, the kwara state Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Abdulganiy Abdulazeez, who was the Special Guest of Honour, described KW-PPA as a shining light in the State’s public sector and commended its commitment to setting a new standard in public service delivery.
He further urged citizens to embrace transparency and accountability in their daily lives, emphasising that integrity remains the bedrock of sustainable development.
Over the course of the five-day sessions, experts took participants through a range of topics including understanding corruption and anti-corruption, the impact of corruption on national security, the importance of cultivating a productive work culture in both public and private institutions, and the roles transparency and accountability play in combating corruption.
General Manager, QS Raheem Abdulbaki, presented a thought-provoking paper titled “Leading with Integrity to Achieve a Corruption-Free Organization,” he urged the staff to become ambassadors of positive change by living the values the Agency promotes.
Dr. (Mrs) Sekinat Al-Mustafa wrapped up the programme with a comparative review of global anti-corruption strategies, highlighting practical lessons Nigeria can draw from China, Singapore and Venezuela.
At the end of the ceremony, plaques were presented to facilitators while certificates were issued to participants.
As the initiative came to a close, there was a clear consensus that the fight against corruption cannot be won by laws and institutions alone, it requires individuals in every sector to act with honesty, take responsibility and live by the values they expect from others.
