The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Professor Taiwo Oyedele, has urged Nigerians to prioritize envisioning our ideal nation through positive narratives.
Prof Oyedele disclosed in his lecture at the 2nd Nigeria Spokespersons Summit organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation held at Ladi Kwali Hall, Continental Hotel, Abuja between 14th and 17th of April 2025.
He explained that it is high time for stakeholders to begin to paint Nigeria in a positive way, saying that such mentality will give birth to a country of our dreams.
While discussing efforts to convince Nigerians about the new Tax Reforms, Prof. Oyedele noted that initial controversies surrounding the reforms turned out to be beneficial, as they allowed the committee to provide detailed and convincing explanations.
He disclosed that the primary objective of the tax reform bills is to fix Nigeria’s economy for shared prosperity, not to generate more revenue.
Prof. Oyedele emphasized that three essential elements are crucial for effective and convincing public messaging: vis-a-vis seeking to understand, staying calm, and putting national interest first, stressing that if these three elements arei incorporated, messaging would become more impactful and persuasive, which will ultimately foster a stronger connection with the audience.
