The Kwara State University Malete has Matriculated a total of thirteen thousand six hundred and two new students for the new 2024/2025 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh made this known in his speech on Thursday (January 16, 2025) at the Matriculation ceremony held on the School campus, Malete.

The Vice Chancellor said a total of 25, 946 candidates sought admission into the various academic programs of the university during the 2024/2025 academic session.
Professor Jimoh said this year’s Matriculation ceremony is particularly historic as the University welcomes its first set of students into 10 newly accredited programmes, including Mining Engineering, Cybersecurity, Criminology and Security Studies, Human Anatomy among others.
“This ceremony marks a new chapter not only in the lives of our newly admitted students, but also in KWASU’s commitment to provide cutting-edge education and expanding the frontiers of knowledge,” He said.
“I therefore warmly welcome you all, on behalf of the Management, staff and students of this esteemed institution to our university and extend my heartfelt congratulations to you all.”
“Your admission into KWASU offers you privileged opportunities to tap from abundant human and physical capital of the University.”
According to him, Kwara State University has a long-standing tradition of producing leaders, thinkers, and change-makers who impact society positively.
He said students have the opportunity to write their success story and leave an indelible mark on the sand of history.
Professor Jimoh said the said the university is committed to providing students with the best educational experience, one that challenges them to think critically, act responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to the society.
“Our faculty members are here to guide, mentor, and support you in your pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. I implore you to optimally tap from their wealth of experience.”
The Vice chancellor warned that Kwara State University has zero tolerance for all forms of indiscipline such as examination malpractices, cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse, indecent dressing and all other forms of indiscipline and misconduct.
“The University will swiftly apply prescribed sanctions on any student who engages in any of these acts”, He warned.
“You are therefore advised to shun them. Let me also advise you to familiarize yourselves with the Students Handbook and Code of Conduct which clearly defines all actions and inactions that align with the University’s values and expectations, as well as those that constitute indiscipline.”
“While we are here to support you, your success depends largely on your commitment and discipline.”
He urged new students to take their studies seriously, maintaining that excellence demands hard work and dedication.

Professor Jimoh also enjoined students to participate actively in extracurricular activities while in the University.
According to him, education is not only about academics; it is also about personal development and social engagement.
“The path ahead will not always be smooth. You may encounter challenges but remember that these are opportunities for growth”.
“Seek help when you need it; our support services such as the Student Affairs Unit and Counselling Centre are available to assist you in navigating any difficulties you may face”, He said.
The Vice Chancellor therefore enjoined students to dream big, work hard, and stay true to their values, assuring that the world awaits their contributions, and that the university is confident that the students will make us proud.
