Protest: IEUDI Calls for Calm, peace, Unity

The Ilorin Emirate for Unity and Development Initiative (IEUDI) has issued a call for peace, urging prospective protesters to reconsider any planned demonstrations for the sake of national unity and stability.

This was contained in a statement jointly issued and signed by the National President of the association, Alhaji Moshood Lekan Salau; and National Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi AbdulRauph AbdulSalam

This appeal was made during the recent transition of leadership within the organization, where Alhaji Moshood Lekan Salau from Ilorin West LGA was formally appointed as the National President of IEUDI. Alhaji Moshood Salau, who previously served as Vice President 1, assumed the role of Acting National President following the election of the former National President, Hon. Yinusa Bello Oniboki, as a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, representing Afon Constituency in the 2023 general election.

In this transition, Mallam Bolaji Laaro Balogun of Ilorin East LGA was elected as the new Vice President 1, and Alhaji AbdulRauf Omoniyi from Asa LGA was appointed as the new National Organizing Secretary through a mini bye-election conducted among the national executive members.

The IEUDI leadership has made a heartfelt plea to the sons and daughters of Ilorin to refrain from engaging in protests, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and unity during these trying times. The organization calls on all citizens to channel their energies into praying for the nation’s peaceful coexistence, rather than participating in activities that could lead to unrest.

Furthermore, the group has expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State. The IEUDI commended Governor AbdulRazaq for implementing a series of proactive measures aimed at safeguarding the lives and properties of Kwara State citizens. “The Governor’s initiatives have been vital in ensuring a secure environment and providing essential support during these challenging times”. Said the Newly elected president.
