Ahmed Lateef Re-elected Kwara NUJ Chairman

Mallam Abdul-Lateef Lanre Ahmed, the incumbent chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State, has secured a second three-year term in a landslide victory.

The Chairman of the 2024 NUJ Credentials Screening Committee, Mr. Abdul-Hameed Funsho Alaiye, announced that Ahmed received 100 votes, decisively defeating Akogun, who garnered 51 votes.

Hajia Binta Abubakar-Mora of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian, was re-elected unopposed. Similarly, Bushrah Yusuf-Badmus of the Correspondents Chapel also won her position without opposition.

The contest for Council Secretary was fiercely competitive. Mahmood Olayinka Alaya of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Kwara Chapel, emerged victorious with 93 votes, outpacing Mansurah Amuda-Kannike of the State Information Chapel, Ministry of Communications, who secured 57 votes.

Madinah Olayinka-Yusuf of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Kwara, was elected State Financial Secretary, achieving 93 votes against Abdulganiyu Yusuf Adebisi from the Information Chapel, Ministry of Communications, who received 56 votes.

A stalemate occurred in the election for State Auditor, with Lukman Oyedeji of the Correspondents Chapel and Mashood Zarumi of Herald Newspapers Chapel both scoring 74 votes. A by-election will be scheduled to resolve this tie.
