…as FG, state set to create state police
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed state Governors to ensure payment of salary arrears to workers, gratuities to retired workers and pensioners so as to put money into the hands of the people.
This statement was made in a press release signed by the Special adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday February 25, 2024.
While stating that the state Governors are now getting more monthly FAAC revenue, the president advised them to create more economic opportunities for the youths in their states to keep them productively engaged.
President Tinubu also disclosed that the Federal government of Nigeria will work with the state government and the National Assembly towards creating state police in Nigeria.
The president while meeting the state Governors, ministers and the heads of security agencies on the state of the nation charged the Governors to strengthen their Forest Rangers and arm them to keep all the forest safe from criminals.
The president assured that the Federal government would collaborate with the state governments to increase local food production.
Tinubu, who also advised Governors to take a clue from Kano state in stopping hoarding of food commodities, directed the Inspector-General of Police, National Security Adviser, Department of State Service to monitor warehouses hoarding food commodities across the country.
