EFCC arrests 19 over vote buying in Kwara

The sledge hammer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has fallen on 19 people suspected to have been involved in vote buying during the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

The suspects were apprehended and paraded at the head office of the EFCC situated in GRA area in Ilorin, the kwara state capital on Saturday (March 18, 2023).

Addressing  journalists on the development,  the Acting Head, Ilorin zonal office, Micheal Nzekwe, said the suspects were arrested at various locations within the state. 

Though they were picked in different locations across the state with money and Point on Sale (PoS) machines found in their possession, we will conduct further investigation to ascertain the facts.

”We are an agency set up by law and we will strictly go with the provisions of the law after we have concluded investigation,” the acting zonal head said

Nzekwe hinted that the culprits were arrested in Omu-Aran, Ilorin South and Ilorin West.
