RAAMP Projects: KWSG pays N600m counterpart fund for road development

The Kwara State Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Engr. (Mrs) Habibat Ibrahim, has said the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had paid a whooping sum of 600 million naira counterpart funds to ensure the progress and seamless implementation of RAAMP projects in the state.

Mrs Ibrahim, who spoke through the state RAAMP Development Communication Officer, Mr Gbenga Ishola, disclosed this on Tuesday (February 7, 2023) in Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

The state RAAMP Coordinator explained that “the project will rehabilitate 450km Spot Improvement road, 225km Rehabilitation/ Backlog maintenance road, yearly toutine maintenance of 700km roads, Construction of 80-100m Cross Drainage across the state”.

According to her, RAAMP became operational in the state on March 16, 2021, as a six- year programme co-financed by the World Bank.

She added that the introduction of RAAMP was aimed at improving Rural Access and Trading Infrastructure in the participating States.

She enumerated Kwara, Abia, Sokoto, Ogun, Kano, Kebbi, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Plateau, Imo, Kaduna, Osun, Niger, Ondo, Ekiti, Katsina, Gombe, Benue, Oyo as 20 RAAMP participating states.

”So far, Gov. Abdulrasaq has paid a whooping sum of 600 million naira counterpart funds to ensure the progress and seamless implementation of the RAMP project in the state.

”The rural dwellers have described the governor as a focused and determined leader who gets things done for the betterment of Kwara residents without being distracted,” Mrs Ibrahim said.

She added that the physical implementation of the projects in the state will start after the rainy season.

Mr Ishola disclosed that the agency has commenced Community Entry/Sensitization exercise across the three senatorial districts of the state as part of preparations for the projects implementation.

Ishola explained that RAAMP Community Entry and Sensitization exercise is being coordinated by officials of the Kwara RAAMP State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU).

He stated that Governor AbdulRazaq’s led administration in the state is a result driven government through executing various people oriented projects and programmes, especially in the areas of sustainable partnerships with developed agencies across all strata.
