The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has lauded the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on the successful hosting of the maiden colloquium in his honor.
The Emir also approved the colloquium to be an annual event and pledge moral and spiritual support to make it a reality.
Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari gave the commendation on Thursday (December 8, 2022) while receiving in the audience, members of the Emir’s Colloquium Committee, who were at the palace on an appreciation visit.
The Emir of Ilorin who applauded the quality of the maiden publication of the colloquium, commended the Kwara State Council of NUJ for the efforts put into the programme which made it a success.
The Emir, however, implored Ilorin indigenes at home and abroad to support the historical project morally, spiritually, and financially to make it colourful and memorable
Earlier, the Chairman of the Colloquium Committee, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, appreciated the Emir for approving the programme and for endorsing the Emir’s Colloquium to be institutionalized.
Alhaji Tunde Akanbi opined that the video call made by the Emir on that day added to the glamour of the event. Adding that, the program was overwhelmlly successfully.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kwara State Council of NUJ, Mallam Abdullateef Ahmed, said the Emir is worthy of being celebrated because his reign is synonymous with peace, tranquility and development of the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.
The NUJ Chairman, however, said the annual colloquium will always be an event to show the world the existence of a worthy traditional ruler in Ilorin who treasures peaceful coexistence among the diverse cultures in the state.
Other members of the committee who were at the palace include Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, Alhaja Bashirat Bola Ayantola, Hajia Misstura Tolani and the Secretary of Emir’s Colloquium Committee, Tajudeen Babamale.
