By Is’haq Babatunde

The Ilorin Emirate Magaji and Alangua Forum has strongly condemned the allegation levelled against it that the forum collected whooping sum of N20 million from the Senate President, Dr. Bukoka Saraki, saying that the report was untrue, baseless, and a figment of the writer’s imagination.

Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Saliu Woru Muhammed addressing the journalists while the Chairman of the forum, the Alangua Alajagusi, Alhaji Abdulwahab Sanni watches.

The forum declared that the malicious information which has gone viral on the social medial was hatched by some enemies of progress, adding that such misleading information was not only laughable but also mischievous, and criminal.

Addressing the press conference on Friday January 5, 2018 in Ilorin, the forum through its Secretary General, the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Saliu Woru Muhammed admitted that though the forum visited the Senate President, it neither demanded nor collected N20 million naira from him.

Magaji Nda explained that the forum’s visit to the number three citizen was a response to the people’s complaints about the backlog  salaries arrears of the local government workers in the state, reduction of Kwara polytechnic tuition fees, and presence of federal government projects in the state.

Other issues he said the forum discussed with the Turaki of Ilorin included the need to consider more kwarans for federal appointment and the need for the Senate President to kindly prevail on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to review the state tax policy in away that will not be too hard for people to pay.

The forum therefore said that it has no regret for the visitation, adding that the forum would not hesitate to go to the Senate President if there is need to prevail on him on the need to bring more projects and programmes that will have direct positive  impact on the lives of the masses to the state.

Magaji Nda however sounded a note of warning that a necessary legal step would be taken on the authors of such misleading and damaging information if they fail to retrace their steps.

The forum however called on parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction by some enemies of progress who derive pleasure in causing chaos and confusion in the society.
