Kwara State has emerged first in the Most Improved State Category at the just concluded 2022 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), held in Lagos.
The National Festival of Arts is a platform for mobilizing stakeholders in the Arts and Culture Industry during which they interact, showcase talents and projects the values of Nigeria’s diverse heritage, as well as develop the spirit of national identity and peaceful co-existence.
This year’s edition, according to a statement signed by the Assistant Press Secretary of the state Ministry of Communications (MOC), Ahmed Abeeb Oredunni, and made available to journalists, is tagged “Eko NAFEST” had 29 participating states, including Kwara State in attendance.
The Kwara team was led by the Ministry of Communications’ Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare and the Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Culture and Tourism, Eyiwumi Aramide, popularly known as Muka Ray.
Kwara State also emerged 4th in the “Essay Writing Category of the National Arts Festival.
In his reaction to the devopments, the State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju noted that, “the first position award is an evidence of the improvements that have been recorded in Kwara State in the last three and a half years. The 4th position is a manifestation of the investment in the education sector.
“Recently, pupils from Kwara State represented Nigeria in Dubai in a debate competition. Therefore, with time, all these investments will begin to pay off and Kwara will be a state to beat in all competitions.
“This administration will not rest on its oars until every sector in the state is given a befitting status”, Towoju assured.
