Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has been commended for his exemplary policy of non -interference in the running of the Kwara State University, Malete and for supporting the institution at all times.
The Vice Chancellor of the State owned University, Professor, Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN gave the commendation in Ilorin on Tuesday (May 10, 2022) when the board members of the Kwara Television Authority paid him courtesy visit.
Professor Akanbi remarked that the University enjoys the personal intervention of the Governor in overcoming most of its pressing challenges.
He cited areas such as construction of access road to the University, securing the needed funds for the accreditation for its law programme, procuring equipment for Astronomical and Aeronautical Engineering programmes as well as connecting the institution with donor agencies.
He further remarked that the Governor assisted the institution in the provision of funds to execute its E- learning programme during Covid 19 while with the Governor’s intervention, works have reached an advanced stage in the construction of both the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses of the State owned tertiary institution.
Professor Akanbi extolled the visionary leadership of Governor Abdulrahman in the quality of the two Commissioners he has so far appointed to supervise the State Ministry of Tertiary Education as they have both proved their mettle as good and resourceful administrators.
Describing the media as worthy partners, the KWASU VC expressed his readiness to partner Kwara TV in areas such as staff development and deployment of students for internship training at the TV station as requested by the Board Chairman while advising all state parastatals to follow the good example of Kwara TV to collaborate with one another for the over all development and common good of the State.
Earlier, Kwara Television Board Chairman, Alhaji Hameed Adio stressed the importance of Education in the development of any state and indeed any nation.

Adio expressed delight that despite the challenges being faced by our country in different areas ,parents, guardians , their children and wards still accord tertiary education a top priority.
He noted that a total of 54,000 candidates from Kwara State are involved in the on going JAMB UTME, describing the rest as one of the highest in the north central geo political Zone which Kwara belongs.
He commended the KWASU VC whose institution is still in session despite the lingering ASUU strike and for his prompt response and approval of the board ‘s request for the courtesy visit even at very short notice.
The Kwara TV board Chairman then extended the station’s invitation for the KWASU Vice Chancellor to appear on its flagship morning programme — A.M. DRIVE a request which the Professor of Law obliged.
