UNILORIN/RUSSIAN Varsity Strengthen Academic ties

The University of Ilorin’s Dean of Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. A.L. Azeez, has received certificates for participants in two prestigious international training programs: Academic Journal Writing and Publishing, and Entrepreneurial Journalism.

The trainings were jointly organised by the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin and the Center for Continuing Professional Education, Faculty of Philology, RUDN University, Russia, with the support of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin.

Delivering the certificates was Dr. M. J. Mustapha, Associate Professor of Communication, Media and Journalism Studies at RUDN University, who personally brought them from Russia. The certificates, printed and signed in Russia, reflect international standards and recognition.

In his remarks, Prof. Azeez expressed profound appreciation to RUDN University and Dr. Mustapha for bringing such valuable training opportunities to the Faculty. He commended the quality and authenticity of the certificates and pledged to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The two-day intensive and well-attended training sessions featured distinguished facilitators, who were this week also given certificates of appreciation by RUDN including:
• Prof. L. K. Mustapha Facilitator of all RUDN training in Kwara
• Dr. M. J. Mustapha – Introduction to Writing for Journals
• Prof. Gregory Simons – Publishing in High-Index Journals, Review Work, Editing Works in Journals: Essential Guide, Rules, and Principles; Understanding the Industry
• Dr. Rasaq Adisa – Qualitative Data Management, Coding, and Analysis Using NVivo and AI
• Prof. Sauda Abdul Baaqi – Writing for Journals

The programme equipped participants with advanced academic publishing skills and entrepreneurial journalism insights, marking a significant step in enhancing research and media innovation capacity at the University of Ilorin.
