The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commended the Olomu of Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Muhammad Yaqub Adebayo Buari, over the peaceful co-existence and the lofty transition that the town has experienced.
Speaking at the 2024 Oba Igba festival, the commissioning of the new Aganju Olomu and conferment of traditional tiles on some indigenes of the town at the weekend, Gov AbdulRazaq acknowledged that the event was a testimony to the inspiring vision and sterling leadership qualities of the royal father.
The Governor, who spoke through the Chief of Staff, Prince Abdulkadir Aliyu Mahe at the event, described the leadership of Oba Muhammad Yaqub Adebayo Buari in the community as very impactful and harmonious.
He added that Omupo has been experiencing a remarkable transformation and attributed the rapid development to the kind support of Omupo Descendants Union and other notable stakeholders in the community
According to Governor AbdulRazaq, “His Royal highness commitment to peace and unity,and progress has fostered an environment where our people thriving”.
However, AbdulRazaq congratulated the Olomu of Omupo, and the entire sons and daughters of Omupo on the auspicious event.
The royal father, Oba Muhammad Yaqub Buari in his address announced that the community was honouring a few of the best among the indigenes of the town . “We have set a new record; we have achieved a milestone, and we are happy that you are all present to rejoice with us”.
Buari stated that the program was a special event as it featured the commissioning of the most modern and iconic building in Omupo named Aganju Olomu.
“Also, noteworthy is the fact that we are doing this while celebrating the Oba Igba in a most exciting format ever. The Oba Igba itself is a celebration of the inspiring and courageous life of our forefathers. Today’s event further shows that Omupo people are the pioneers in Igbomina land” he mentioned.
Olomu, who further explained that, the Chieftaincy titles and honorary awards being conferred on the selected people of Omupo are in line with “this value bequeathed to us and in cherished memory of our forefather.
“We are here today to recognize, appreciate and celebrate individuals who have made highly invaluable and impactful contributions to the growth and development of Omupo and its people.
“These are people who have made us happy and left indelible marks in our minds through their unrelenting love and commitment to the development of Omupo”.
Oba Buari therefore encouraged members of the community to continue to remeber the twon in their prayers and praise God for His mercies and love on the sons and daughters of Omupo as well as lovers and admirers of the the town.
