The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has given the green light for the construction of the Faculty of Law Complex at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
This approval is a result of TETFUND’s approval of KWASU’s application for the 2024 Intervention Fund.
The KWASU VIce Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, KWASU, shared this exciting news at the maiden annual lecture honoring renowned legal expert Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, SAN, in Ilorin.
However, the KWASU Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the law programme of the institution enjoys full accreditation of both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education.
“Kwara State University has zero tolerance for the violation of laws and regulations, and operates strictly within the framework of its regulatory bodies.
“Accordingly, I wish to unequivocally state that our Faculty of Law is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE) to offer LL.B Common Law and LL.B Common and Islamic Law programmes.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the NUC approved these two law programmes in 2018 following a successful Resource Verification Visit, and full accreditation was granted in 2022.
“Furthermore, by a letter dated April 14, 2021, the Council of Legal Education approved the commencement of admissions into our law programmes. I am pleased to inform you that the first set of students from the faculty will advance to 400 level at the start of the 2024/2025 academic session”, the vice-chancellor said.
He added that the KWASU’s law program has received full accreditation from both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education. The university operates strictly within the framework of its regulatory bodies, ensuring zero tolerance for violating laws and regulations
In his lecture at the occasion, the Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Professor Abiola Sanni (SAN) spoke on the topic; “The Place of Artificial Intelligence/Robotic Lawyers in the Current Legal Regime in Nigeria”.
Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Law, Professor Y.D.U Hambali, announced that construction of the faculty building is expected to commence soon, and appreciated the TETFUND for the approval of the 2024 Intervention Fund.
He appealed to legal professionals to support the faculty through generous donations for the construction of the faculty complex and other offices.
Accordingto him,, “We are glad to announce that TETFUND graciously approved the application of the 2024 Intervention Fund for the construction of the Faculty of Law building, which is set to commence in few weeks”.
The event drew notable figures from the legal and academic communities to the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin.
