Kwara State University (KWASU) is gearing up to commence academic activities in its Ilesha-Baruba and Osi campuses, with over 1,400 students expected to resume in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The KWASU Pro-Chancellor, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali made the announcement during a visit to the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba’s palace on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
He commended the State Government and KWASU management for their commitment to establishing functional campuses in the two communities, which will bring significant development to the regions.
The Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, expressed enthusiasm for the students’ arrival, promising warm hospitality.
He suggested that the University leverage the community’s livestock market, the largest in West Africa, by introducing Veterinary Sciences programs to enhance livestock development in the State.
The Faculty of Agriculture will relocate to the Ilesha-Baruba campus, while the Faculty of Environmental Sciences will move to the Osi campus.
Earlier, Professor Ambali visited the Osi campus and met with the Olosi of Osi, Oba Salihu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe Arowobeku, and former Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Raphael Osondu Afolayan.
