The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has lauded the appointment of Professor Shaykh Lukman Alade Jimoh as substantive Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete.

The union said the appointment of Professor Jimoh could not have come at a time than now in view of his incredible performance and turnaround experienced when he held sway in acting capacity.

This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin by the state Chairman and Assistant Secretary of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Olayinka Alaya respectively.

The NUJ applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the choice of the new vice-chancellor, describing his pick as a round peg in a round hole.

It, however, urged the newly appointed Kwara State University vice-chancellor to justify the confidence reposed in him and deliver in line with the mandate of his office as the university administrator.

“At Kwara Council of NUJ, we received with utmost pleasure and delight the choice of Professor Shaykh Lukman Alade Jimoh as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete. We weren’t surprised that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as Visitor to the institution, resolved at Jimoh’s pick.

“We have taken time to assess the stint of Professor Jimoh as acting Vice-Chancellor in almost one year and a half. That period was marked with significant development in the fast rising state university.

“The feat recorded within the period under review came in spite of the obvious challenge of funding and others bedeviling the institution. It is therefore heartening that the story is changing for the better, and our belief is that the vice-chancellor, with his confirmation as a full fledge helmsman, would not rest on his oars”, the state NUJ said.
