2024 UTME: Unveiling Kwara highest scorer

Abdulbasit Adekunke Adeleke, a student of Federal Staff Secondary School, Adewole Estate, Ilorin, Kwara State Capital recorded an impressive score of 363 marks in the 2024 University Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Abdulbasit is a science student, and he chose Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) as the first choice to study Mechanical Engineering.

Speaking with the Highprofile on the secret behind his brillant performance in the just concluded JAMB, Abdulbasit attributed his success to divine support

He also revealed that he read copiously anytime he was free, treated all past questions, and ensured that he covered the syllabus before the examination.

“It is God that helped me and my parents help me a lot. They encouraged me to read, and they always gave me the best. I also have to thank my teachers. They are very hardworking, committed, and diligent. “

“I tried to read as much as possible any time I was free. I read at night and treated past questions and covered the syllabus” he added.

Also speaking with the Principal of the school, Mrs Biola Biodun-Olugbemi described Abdulbasit as a student who is very focused, hardworking, and diligent.

“Among his mates, you hardly see him being distracted in school. Is not that he is not sociable, but he makes sure he does what he has to do at the right time. We have five of them that scored above 300 marks, but he has the highest score in the school and state at large, ” she said

Mrs Biodun-Olugbemi advised students to continue to be diligent, hardworking, and focused, saying that there is reward for everything, pointing out that with diligence and consistency, one will get to the destination of his or her choice.

The Principal advised the parents to join hands with the school in the spirit of producing students with both moral and academic standards.

“I want to encourage the parents to work with us because we are all together to raise a total child. In order to achieve that the parents at home have to do their part while we in the school will do what we are supposed to do, if all of us work together, we will see more achievements”, she said.

The Principal explained that Federal Staff Secondary School Adewole Estate, Ilorin boasts of the state of-the-art facilities, conducive learning environment, functional library, as well as committed and dedicated staff.

“Environment plays a major role in the acadenic achievement of a child. We make sure that classrooms are very conducive, we have enough space, and we have enough fans. Our classrooms are energy efficient, there is enough illumination, and teachers get to school on time.

“We have a functional library with relevant and latest reading materials. These are what we have that help the students to achieve their successes.

“The environment is big enough for them to move around. On Wednesdays, we allow them to perform various sporting activities. Aside that, we engage them in different extra curriculum activities such as debate and quiz competition, playing of football, going out for competition, these are the things that the school deems fit. The students are exposed to for them to achieve tremendous success in their academic pursuits, “she added.

The school was established in September 2006.
