An Ilorin based Islamic Scholar, Shaikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy died at the age of 54 years.
Shaikh Abdul-Hayy died on Wednesday (May 8, 2024) after a brief illness
Until his death, Shaikh Abdul-Hayy was a great memorizer of complete Qur’an with Tafsir and Tajweed
He was also a great tutor of Qur’an recitation, memorization, moral values and strict disciplinarian in the state that molded recalcitrant children towards coping with realities of life.
Sheik Abdul Hayy dedicated his life to serving others, spreading love, peace, and compassion. His commitment to fostering unity, understanding, and acceptance among people of different backgrounds and beliefs will forever be remembered and cherished.
In a telephone interview with the Highprofile, one of the close friends of the deceased, Sheikh Dr Saheed Katibi described late Shaikh Abdul-Hayy as a very hardworking, dedicated and committed scholar.
Dr Katibi disclosed that late Shaikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy was an epitome of knowledge, piety, and someone who was very firm in the course Allah.
He said late Shaikh was a great scholar who did not hesitate to correct the wrongs anytime the need arose.
According to him, during the 2018 Musabaqah in Kastina state, a female constant who wore niqob was about to be disqualified for wearing niqob but Shaikh engaged with the officials of the Musabaqah and his intervention gave that female an opportunity to participate, a situation, he said, that served as endorsement for the wearing of niqob till today.
He explained that late Shaikh had contributed tremendously to the growth and development of Qur’anic education and propagation of Islam in general.
He has been buried in accordance with Islamic injunctions at Muslim cemetery, Ilorin, Kwara state Capital.
