We are against crimes, IEDPU assures constituents

Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the apex sociocultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has assured indigenes and residents of the community of its readiness to work with other stakeholders towards the discouragement of crimes and criminality across the Emirate in particular .

The National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, gave this assurance last week when he paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in his office in Abuja.

Alhaji Abdulmalik explained that the Union is very much aware of the importance of security in the enthronement of peace and tranquility as well as the facilitation of progress in every community.

He added that the Union would also intensify its media campaign and other efforts targeted at discouraging all forms of youth restiveness and hooliganism as well as other antisocial behaviours for the community to remain an abode of harmony and morality.

Welcoming the delegation, Mallam Issa-Onilu welcomed the National President and his entourage to his office, saying that he felt highly honoured by the visit.

Mallam Issa-Onilu, who is also a veteran journalist, said that the consultative visits embarked upon by the Union would definitely encourage greater fraternity between the Union and privileged indigenes of the community.

The NOA Chief Executive appealed to IEDPU to work with other stakeholders, particularly the Kwara State Government, towards reducing crimes and criminalities across Ilorin Emirate.

He added that no effort should be spared at ensuring that the characteristic tranquility of the community is maintained.

The President was accompanied on the visit by his Deputy, Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa; the Union’s Chief Imam, Shaykh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya and a prominent member of the Union’s National Executive Council, Lawyer Isiaka Ayo Yusuf.
