.. Gov AbdulRazaq, Fagbemi, Oloyede others expected
All is set for the official unveiling and opening of the Deen Central Mosque built in memories of the former Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, and late Alhaji Alimi Atanda.
The central mosque, which is located on Obale Crescent, Off Ogunshola Street, Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin, will be commissioned for the use of Muslim faithful on Friday (October 20th, 2023) at 10am.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Deen Mosque Management Committee, Engr Mutiu Akinpelu and Mr Is’haq Babatunde respectively, those expected to grace the event include Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; and Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is’haq Olanrewaju Oloyede.
The statement also added that a renowned Islamic preacher, Shaykh Muhyideen Ajani Bello is the Guest Lecturer at the commissioning ceremony with Shaykh Sulaiman Dan-Borno as Spiritual Father of the day while the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh is the Co-Host.
The highprofile reports that the central mosque was constructed in honour of Alhaji Alimi Atanda who died over four decades ago, and Professor M.M. Akanbi, who died on November 20th 2022, and buried in line with Islamic injunctions amidst glowing tributes.
